DrinkAwamori.com is a project that was born from a personal connection to the people of Okinawa and their culture.
When I was 20, I traveled to Okinawa to visit a friend from the main island. I stayed with her and her family for 3 weeks, and had an amazing time immersed in the local culture…
Learning their native dance and participating in the summer festival;
Kayaking to a remote island to collect clean sea water and bringing it home to make tofu the original way;
Eating endless mounds of baby mangos collected from my friends aunt and uncle’s farm;
And of course, drinking their native alcoholic drink of choice – Awamori.
Please enjoy DrinkAwamori.com to explore the rich history, tradition and culture surrounding this special drink.
I work on this website whenever I have time – so it is a slow, work in progress.
My hope is that this website helps make Awamori more accessible to more people around the world.
If you have any suggestions for this website, please don’t hesitate to drop me a line!
